Sandbox Percussion opens their 9th annual summer seminar with an exciting performance to welcome this year’s seminar students to The New School. This performance will feature two world premieres from our current Composer Mentorship Program collaborators, Iseul Kim and Wenbin Lyu.

World premiere: (Un)Wandering Souls by Vivian Fung

For the Festival finale, artists who were part of the Bangsokol production will present new works created exclusively for the virtual festival. Musicians and singers from five countries—Metropolis Ensemble (with Sandbox Percussion) composer Vivian Fung (USA), Taipei Philharmonic (Taiwan), Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (Singapore), Yuko Tomonaga (Australia) and Krom Dontrey Bangsokol (Cambodia)—will reinterpret music inspired by the different themes of Bangsokol.

In response to the challenges and realities of 2020, CLA and Arts Emerson are excited to present a two-week series of online performances, film screenings, and conversations, inspired by the groundbreaking production Bangsokol: A Requiem for Cambodia. The program culminates with two brand new music and dance performances created exclusively for the festival. Artists and audiences from around the world can get involved and join this creative conversation about #ArtsHealing2020.
